# **How Not To Lose Your Saltiness As A Child Of God | Living As The Salt Of The Earth**
**Welcome back to another Christian transformation, Bible teaching, faith, and personal development video.**
Jesus gave His followers a powerful description in **Matthew 5:13**:
**”You are the salt of the earth.”**
But what does it mean to remain “salty” as a child of God?
Salt has a practical purpose. In biblical times, salt was valuable and commonly associated with preservation and flavor. Jesus used this everyday image to teach His followers about their influence and purpose in the world.
**As Christians, we are called to live differently while remaining engaged with the world around us.**
## Don’t Lose Your Saltiness
Jesus warned about salt losing its usefulness.
This gives us something important to think about.
Are we allowing the pressures of life to weaken our faith?
Are we becoming so influenced by the world that our Christian character becomes difficult to recognize?
Are we compromising our values because we want acceptance?
Are we becoming discouraged and forgetting our purpose?
**Being a child of God means allowing your faith to influence the way you live.**
## Your Character Is Your Witness
Being “salt” isn’t simply about what we say.
It is also about how we behave.
People can observe our patience.
Our honesty.
Our humility.
Our forgiveness.
Our generosity.
Our discipline.
Our treatment of others.
Our response to difficult circumstances.
**Your character can communicate something about what you believe.**
This doesn’t mean Christians will be perfect.
We all make mistakes.
But when we fail, we can acknowledge our mistakes, seek forgiveness, learn, and continue growing.
## Don’t Become Conformed
**Romans 12:2** teaches about the renewing of our minds and warns against being conformed to the pattern of the world.
Christians live in the world, but we’re called to allow God to transform our thinking and character.
That can mean making difficult choices.
Choosing integrity when dishonesty appears easier.
Choosing forgiveness instead of revenge.
Choosing self-control instead of destructive habits.
Choosing humility instead of pride.
Choosing faith when circumstances are difficult.
**Your saltiness is connected to how you live out your faith.**
## Stay Connected To God
One way to remain spiritually grounded is to maintain your relationship with God.
Pray.
Read Scripture.
Reflect.
Worship.
Seek wise Christian fellowship.
Serve others.
Ask God for wisdom.
Don’t allow your spiritual life to become something you only think about during difficult moments.
**Faith needs attention and practice.**
Just like physical strength develops through consistent training, spiritual character develops through consistent pursuit of God.
## Don’t Hide Your Light
Jesus also told His followers:
**”You are the light of the world.” — Matthew 5:14**
Salt and light are both useful images.
Your faith isn’t meant to be completely hidden.
You can demonstrate your beliefs through your conduct, your work, your relationships, and your service to others.
You don’t have to force your beliefs on everyone around you.
Instead, **live them sincerely.**
Let your actions demonstrate the values you claim to follow.
## Stay Salty In Difficult Times
It can be easy to maintain faith when everything is going well.
The real challenge can come during difficult seasons.
When you’re unemployed.
When relationships are difficult.
When you’re dealing with disappointment.
When you’re struggling with temptation.
When your plans don’t work.
When you’re waiting for an answer to prayer.
Those moments can test your character.
**Don’t allow difficult circumstances to determine who you become.**
Use them as opportunities to grow in patience, wisdom, resilience, and faith.
## Protect Your Spiritual Life
Pay attention to what influences you.
What are you watching?
What are you listening to?
What are you constantly thinking about?
Who are you allowing to influence your decisions?
Not everything deserves unlimited access to your mind.
**Guard your heart and renew your mind through God’s Word.**
Choose influences that help you grow rather than constantly pulling you away from your values.
## Be The Salt
Being the salt of the earth doesn’t mean being perfect.
It means being useful.
Being faithful.
Being truthful.
Being compassionate.
Being willing to serve.
Being willing to grow.
And pointing people toward Christ through the way you live.
**Don’t lose your saltiness.**
Stay connected to God.
Protect your faith.
Develop your character.
Serve others.
Walk in humility.
And continue becoming the person God is calling you to become.
**Be salt. Be light. Keep growing. Keep serving. Keep walking with God.**
