# **Why You Are Not To Do Damage To Others Or Their Property | A Biblical Approach To Respect, Self-Control & Responsibility | By Mervin Timothy Reyes**
**Welcome back to another Christian transformation video.**
Today we’re talking about **why we should never intentionally damage other people or their property** and what the Bible teaches us about respect, self-control, responsibility, and dealing with anger.
As Christians, we are called to treat others the way we want to be treated. **Matthew 7:12** gives us this important principle. If we don’t want someone damaging our home, vehicle, belongings, or property, we should not intentionally damage theirs.
## Respect Others And Their Property
Property can represent someone’s hard work, money, time, and effort. Damaging it can cause financial loss, stress, inconvenience, and emotional pain.
Respecting someone’s property is therefore also a way of respecting the person.
Whether it is a family member’s belongings, a neighbor’s property, workplace equipment, a rental home, or something that has been loaned to you, treat it responsibly.
**Character is revealed by how we treat things that belong to other people.**
## Control Your Anger
Anger can tempt us to act in destructive ways. Someone may hurt us, insult us, disappoint us, or treat us unfairly.
But anger does not give us permission to destroy.
**Ephesians 4:26** reminds us to deal with anger without allowing it to lead us into sin.
You can be angry without damaging property.
You can be hurt without seeking revenge.
You can disagree with someone without becoming destructive.
**True strength includes self-control.**
## Do Not Repay Evil With Evil
**Romans 12:17** teaches us not to repay evil for evil.
When someone wrongs us, revenge can create a cycle of destruction. One person retaliates, the other responds, and the conflict continues to grow.
Instead, seek wisdom.
Communicate when appropriate. Set boundaries. Seek peaceful solutions. Use proper legal or community processes when necessary.
Forgiveness does not mean ignoring wrongdoing. It means refusing to allow hatred and revenge to control your actions.
## Think Before You Act
When you are extremely angry, stop before you react.
Pray.
Take a breath.
Walk away if necessary.
Think about the consequences.
Ask yourself:
**”Will this honor God?”**
**”Could this hurt someone?”**
**”Could I regret this decision tomorrow?”**
A few moments of self-control can prevent consequences that last for years.
Don’t allow a temporary emotion to create a permanent problem.
## Become The Best Version Of Yourself
Christian transformation is about becoming a person of strong character.
Respect others.
Respect their property.
Control your emotions.
Take responsibility for your actions.
Choose peace over revenge.
Choose wisdom over impulsiveness.
And allow God’s Word to guide your decisions.
**You don’t have to destroy something to prove that you are strong. Sometimes the greatest demonstration of strength is having the ability to act—and choosing self-control instead.**
