Mervin Timothy Reyes: PADI Training Expertise

Beginning his journey as an Open Water Diver in 2005 while working as a Belizean tour guide, Mervin Timothy Reyes has steadily risen through the ranks within the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) and ultimately became a PADI CERTIFIED GLOBAL INSTRUCTOR. By 2007, he had achieved certifications as an Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Dive Master. That same year, Mervin successfully completed the rigorous PADI Assistant Instructor and Instructor courses.

From 2008 to 2009, he further specialized in diverse and advanced areas of scuba diving, earning certifications as a PADI Night Diver, Deep Diver, Coral Reef Conservation Instructor, Emergency First Responder Instructor, Nitrox Training Instructor, Wreck Diver, and TECH DEEP Diver.

Mervin has dedicated his career to continuous personal and professional development and has honed his expertise to deliver exceptional training, making him a seasoned instructor in both recreational and technical diving disciplines. His extensive experience ensures students gain not only technical skills but also a deep respect for underwater ecosystems. He has taught and certified hundreds of students from all various walks of life from all over the world in many languages, using the PADI MULTILINGUAL teaching system.

Mervin Timothy Reyes: A Journey of Martial Arts Mastery and Dedication

Mervin Timothy Reyes’ martial arts journey began at the age of fourteen when he independently pursued training through Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do books. Recognized for his innate talent at seventeen by a military friend, Mervin was encouraged to formalize his skills. This pivotal moment led him to train under Sensei Mikame from Okinawa, Japan, and in 1992, in Belize City, he earned his Shotokan Karate yellow and orange belts.

Over the years, Mervin continued refining his craft, training with various martial arts instructors who further honed his abilities. In 2007, his dedication paid off when he was invited to test for a position on Belize’s national karate team. Under the mentorship of great coaches, he earned a coveted spot and represented Belize in international competitions, including El Salvador,  the Pan American Games held in Mexico, and the Carribbean games held Managua, Nicaragua.

Despite facing numerous challenges, Mervin’s passion for martial arts remained unwavering. He went on to establish and operate a series of successful karate dojos in Belize, where he shared his knowledge and inspired others. Recognizing the value of martial arts in survival training, Mervin also integrated his karate expertise into his specialized survival courses.

Mervin’s journey is a testament to his resilience, dedication, and love for martial arts, as he continues to contribute to the discipline through teaching, mentorship, and innovation.
